Views of Lake Neuchâtel and beyond from Château de Chenaux

Located just over 30 km from Murten aka Morat is is yet another historical Swiss town,  Estavayer-le-Lac. A town that offers a perfect mix of history, art and culture, Estavayer-le-Lac is situated on the banks of lake Neuchâtel. A perfect day trip from Zurich, this town is a great idea if you are looking for an insightful trip. Here are some captures from the town.

As you tread along the cobbled streets, the antiquated vibes of the well preserved old town is evident as you spot majestic stone walls, arches and brick lined roofs.

The gothic Church of St. Laurent is a key landmark in Estavayer-le-Lac old town.

In the heart of the old town stands Château de Chenaux which is a castle that dates back to the 13th century. The rectangular complex replete with brick walls, imposing towers and high ceilings supported by wooden rafters is a sight not to be missed.

The town is also known for its art scene and if you are a fan of street art, you can view the works of as many as 15 artists on the facades of buildings as part of the Artichoke trail.
