Pumpkins galore

Think autumn and it is synonymous with cooler temperatures, shorter days, shedding leaves, harvest time and autumnal equinox. It is a time for pumpkins, gourds, chrysanthemums, asters and marigolds. A walk through the local markets will not only treat you to a riot of colours but also to the delectable fragrances of vanilla, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg all of which evoke the feeling of freshly baked goods like cinnamon buns, apple pie and vanilla cake. Here are some pictures from a visit to the local markets in Switzerland during the autumn season.
