Unique concept

“Your food tastes heavenly because a farmer’s soul has gone into it.  Let’s be grateful to nature for the soil and a farmer for his toil”.  This is so true and hence the board caught my attention on my visit to India’s largest organic space, The Green Path.  Located in Malleshwaram in Bangalore, the concept of ‘The Green Path’ is totally one of its kind and a fine example in sustainable living and going back to your roots.  With a restaurant, cafe and store that champions the cause of conscious consumption and conscious living, the entire place has been tastefully done up using up-cycled materials. If you are someone who loves things natural, healthy and pure then you must head to this one stop shop.

Era Organic Eco store:

Housed on the ground floor, this retail outlet has everything you need when it comes to organic and natural.  Whether it is organically grown fruits and vegetables, groceries, cosmetics or even apparel, it is all available here.  The Green Path is a treasure house when it comes to millets with almost all varieties in stock.

According to Mr. Jayaram, who runs the place, millets are not only popular for their health benefits but also for the fact that they can be easily cultivated and require less amount of water making it the food of the future.  The grains are powdered using traditional methods like stone and the focus is definitely on retaining the inherent goodness of the food.  The wide variety of cold pressed oils are definitely worth a buy.

Detox cafe:

Again located in the ground floor, the detox cafe is a quaint corner where one can relax while enjoying a slice of millet pizza and honey mango pie! Given my love for upcycling, I loved the ambience and solid wood seating that created the perfect rustic setting for one to unwind and detox!

All their pastries and pizzas are made up of jaggery and whole grains and totally devoid of refined sugars and flours.  Stone baked with an abundance of fresh veggies, their pizzas are a must try.

Forgotten food:

The top floor has a full fledged fine dining restaurant that serves authentic food made up of ingredients like millets, Himalayan rock salt, cold pressed oil, organic pure ghee and natural herbs and spices.  The buffet has a truly exclusive selection of dishes and the fare includes millet bread, red rice, garden fresh salads, sprouts and a whole lot of wellness foods.  With a decor that is totally classy and set amidst greenery, you are sure to savor a memorable meal here!

The desserts are lip smacking and can be consumed ‘guilt free’ as they are free from sugar and hydrogenated fats and oils! You can find the traditional ‘obbatu’ along with the contemporary chocolate brownie made with the same measure of goodness.

All in all, The Green Path clearly epitomizes their tag line of “soil to soul” and is indeed a celebration of life with nature.  Don’t miss taking a tour of their organic garden on the terrace.  For more details, visit their website by clicking here.
