It is that time of the year when the festivities are in the air and Christmas is just around the corner. A season for joy, sharing and giving, Christmas is indeed one of the most awaited seasons of the year. It is also a time for gifting, shopping and decorating your home with accessories galore. During my recent visit to Zurich, I had a chance to witness the run up to the most magical season of the year with store fronts, markets, streets and homes decorated with the colours of the season and the most endearing artefacts. Here are some ideas to give your home a Christmas makeover.

Christmas is synonymous with the Christmas tree and decorating it has been a tradition since time immemorial. Zurich stores have some of the most amazing decorations whether it is the wreaths, bells, tree toppers, baubles, tassels or tree ornaments.

The best part is that you can decorate per your colour scheme, so whether you prefer the traditional red and green or white, gold or even pastel hues, there are decorations to suit all themes. With natural materials, pastel hues and organic textures touted to be a hot decorating trend this Christmas, the stores in Zurich have you covered for sure!

In sync with natural textures, there were plenty of wooden cribs and ornaments that were totally unique and aesthetic. A cool way to make your Christmas decor chic and sustainable.

Even if you choose not to have a tree, there are plenty of accessories and artefacts you can use to create little vignettes. Pine cones, candles, berries, greenery, seasonal fruits and vegetables are some good ideas for creating interesting Christmas themed vignettes.

And nothing screams Christmas and the festive season like the display of little houses filled with twinkling lights that exude warm, fuzzy vibes. Make sure you create one on your mantle to usher in the celebratory ambience.
